This Fall/Winter Product Catalog outlines nearly 7,500 items available to the home & hearth retailer. In addition to traditional hearth products, AES provides a mix of distinctive outdoor products for the warmer seasons of the year.

AES was founded in the nineteen-forties as Knudson Hardware, a partnership named after one of the owners, Allen Knudson. The store serviced a small suburb of Seattle , Washington with lumber, ice, coal, oil and general hardware. The store thrived under the ideals of Knudson and his staff, who embraced a philosophy of offering outstanding customer service based on honesty and integrity.  In the mid-fifties, the second generation owners, Knudson’s daughter, Norma, and son-in-law, Ben Newby were running the store.

Responding to increased competition, technological advances and high market demand, the Newby’s brought on a unique selection of goods not readily available at the time: hearth products. Soon, fireplaces, fireplace screens and accessories were a large portion of the business.  During the energy crisis of the mid-seventies, the high demand for hearth products provided an opportunity for the company to expand into regional distribution. AES’ unique product offering provides retailers with a housewarming presence for every season.
